December 20, 2004 Finally - The Day We've Been Waiting For! Tomorrow, Tuesday December 21th, the Liberal Government will hold a press conference to announce new tax incentives designed to revive Ontario's flagging film and television production industry. At 10:00 a.m. in Studio 3 at Toronto Film Studios (629 Eastern Ave.) the Ministers of Finance and Culture will unveil both a boost to the Production Service Tax Credit (for foreign service production), and a significant increase to the Ontario Film and Television Tax Credit (for domestic television and feature films). For the past eighteen months FilmOntario (in which NABET 700 CEP has a seat at the board), as well as an industry-wide coalition of suppliers and service providers has been waging a campaign to convince the government that other more aggressive jurisdictions were eating Ontario's lunch when it came to competitiveness for film and television production. And the government has heard us! Please come out and join us at the press conference, and help thank our elected officials for responding to this dire situation. For further information please call David Hardy at the Union office (416 536-4827) NABET 700 CEP represents over 1,000 of Toronto's Film Technicians. Back to What's New |
