Genie Nominations Announced

The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television has announced the nominations for the 18th Annual Genie Awards.

Debra Hanson, a NABET 700 CEP member, has been nominated for Best Costume Design for The Gospel of John.

Owning Mahowny, a NABET 700 CEP movie, has been nominated for four Genies:

Best Motion Picture
Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role (Philip Seymour Hoffman)
Adapted Screenplay (Maurice Chauvet)
Achievement in Music - Original Score (Richard Grassby-Lewis, Jon Hassell)

Owning Mahowny is based on the true crime story of the largest one-man bank fraud in Canadian history.

Scott Thompson will Host "The Awards" Saturday, May 1st at 8:00pm ET on Citytv Toronto, Bravo!, Star!, and MusiMax and at 8:00pm PT on Citytv Vancouver. They will also air in Halifax at 9:00pm AT on ASN and at 6:00pm MT on Access in Alberta.
