For immediate release - 23 March 2004 Film and video union says federal budget's funding to Canadian Television Fund will assist Ontario's film and TV industry (Toronto) - Ontario's leading technical union in the film and television industry praises the federal budget in that it restores funding to the Canadian Television Fund. "We've had a tough go in the film and television industry lately," comments Ross Leslie, Business Manager, NABET 700. "This comes as welcome news that Prime Minister Martin and Minister Goodale have seen the value of Canadian film and TV production." "In this kind of an environment, public sector support to Canadian production is essential," he continues. "Restoring the funding to the Canadian Television Fund to $100 million and committing to a second year at the same level will be helpful to stabilize the industry."
