STOP THE ANTI-TORONTO BIAS AT THE CANADIAN MEDIA FUND!!
On Monday, September 13th the Canadian Media Fund (CMF) will be hosting a consultation concerning proposed guidelines for the new fund. One of the main topics will be CMF Support for English Regional Production.
This is a euphemism. By regional, current CMF guidelines mean any location more than 150 kilometers outside of Toronto. Effectively, this topic could read, “How To Stick It to Toronto and Drive Domestic Production out to the Hinterland”
The lunacy of shooting MVP in London was the work of the CMF predecessor, the Canadian Television Fund, via the CBC. Currently, the CBC has mandated that an upcoming pilot be shot “regionally”. That production (and possibly a series to follow) will be shot in Ottawa by Toronto producers who regularly work with NABET 700 CEP crews.
THIS ANTI-TORONTO DISCRIMINATION MUST STOP NOW!
THIS LEGISLATED DISMANTLING OF TORONTO’S DECADES OLD INDUSTRY MUST STOP NOW!
THESE ANTI-TORONTO POLICIES ARE PUTTING TORONTO TECHNICIANS OUT OF WORK, AND OUT OF THEIR HOMES, AND THEY MUST BE STOPPED!
Please go to this website and register for the consultation.
