It was a good weekend for Space and the debut of its latest Canadian drama, Orphan Black. The Toronto-shot series premiered on Saturday to the highest number of viewers for an original debut in Space’s 15-year history.
According to an official release from the network, over 400,000 viewers tuned into the 9 p.m. ET original broadcast. To help bolster the night even further, the Season 7B debut of Doctor Who pulled in over 650,000 viewers in the 8 p.m. ET hour, making it an all-around cheer-worthy night.
In total, almost 900,000 viewers took in at least some of the Orphan Black debut, making it the most-watched specialty program of the hour.
The series revolves around a girl, Sarah (Tatiana Maslany), who witnesses a girl that looks just like her jump in front of a train. A series of strange events naturally follow.
Orphan Black airs Saturdays at 9 p.m. ET on Space.
