BBC America Renews 'Orphan Black' for Season 2

May 2nd, 2013 - The Wrap

BBC America has renewed its new conspiracy thriller for a 10-episode second season ahead of its Season 1 finale on Saturday, June 1. Season 2 is slated to premiere in 2014.

"Tatiana Maslany has delivered one of the year’s standout performances," BBC Worldwide general manager of channels, Perry Simon, said of the series' star in a statement.

It also stars Maria Doyle Kennedy ("Downton Abbey," "Dexter"), Jordan Gavaris ("Degrassi"), Dylan Bruce ("As The World Turns"), Kevin Hanchard ("The Listener") and Michael Mando ("Make Your Move").

Co-created by Graeme Manson and John Fawcett, "Orphan Black" is produced by Temple Street Productions in association with BBC America and Space.

"We’re excited to commission a second season from the talented team of Graeme, John and Temple Street Productions, and we can’t wait to see who Tatiana shows up as in season two," Simon continued.

Maslany stars as Sarah, an outsider who witnesses the murder of a woman named "Beth" who looks just like her. Seeing a way out of her bleak life, she assumes the woman's identity. But, that thrusts in into a deeper, more far reaching mystery that leads to the discover that she and "Beth" are clones.

"Orphan Black: Season One" is available nationwide on Blu-ray and DVD on July 16.
