March Update from Film Ontario, March 12, 2016
Dear FilmOntario Members,
There have been two very encouraging announcements from the Honourable Michael Coteau, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport for our Screen-Based industy.
Early last week Minister Coteau announced that the guidelines for the Interactive Digital Media Fund (IDM) has expanded to include marketing support and forms of IDM that were not previously eligible, such as interactive publishing.
The IDM Fund has increased to $6 million this fiscal year and will increase to $10 million next year. Applications for the 2016-17 IDM Fund are now open and there are two deadlines for this year, up from a single deadline in past years, May 9th and October 16th.
The second announcement is that Ontario's Film and TV industry celebrated its best year ever in 2015, contributing $1.5 billion to the province's economy and supporting almost 32,500 full-time direct and associated jobs.
