What the Parties Are Saying About Us
We were very disappointed to have to cancel last week’s Town Hall for the Film and TV industry. If you haven’t already seen it, please check out our official statement.

To see what the parties have to say about investing in our $1.6 billion industry that employs almost 35,000 people, check out a quick summary of their platform commitments.

And don’t be shy to about asking your local candidate where they stand. Check out our handy one-sheet for key talking points.

City of Toronto Launches xoTO Schools Pilot Project
On Tuesday, May 29, Mayor John Tory was joined by representatives from the Toronto District School Board and the City’s Film, Television and Digital Media Board to announce a Pilot Program that will provide improved access to Toronto schools for filming and provide co-op opportunities in the industry for local high school students.

Congratulations to all our members – especially the unions and the producers who have made the co-op placements possible – for getting this important initiative off the ground. It is a great example of how the industry can work collaboratively to meet our production needs while at the same time engaging with our community. Also check out this great CBC piece that highlights some of the students who have already been through the program.

Pre-Sale Pitch Sessions in Los Angeles
The CMPA is pleased to once again collaborate with the Canadian Consulate in Los Angeles and industry partners Canada Media Fund, Creative BC, Alberta Film, Manitoba Film & Music, OMDC and SODEC, on the Pre-Sale Pitch Sessions in Los Angeles.

Producers with strong television and feature film proposals will be invited to pitch to senior Development Executives from major US broadcast and cable networks, and streaming services during a three-day session held from August 21 - 23, 2018 in Los Angeles.

All established Canadian production companies are invited to apply but preference will be given to CMPA members. The Call for Projects with details surrounding the initiative, eligibility requirements, selection criteria and the application process can be accessed here.

The deadline for applications is 8pm EDT on June 5, 2018.
