Election Results
FilmOntario would like to congratulate Premier-designate Doug Ford and all the newly and re-elected MPPs. We look forward to working with the new government, and all parties, to continue to find ways to invest in and grow Ontario’s $1.6 billion film and television industry that supports nearly 35,000 jobs across the province.

The film and TV tax credits, instituted by the previous Conservative government in the late 1990s and replicated in jurisdictions around the world, continue to be the key public investment tool for our industry. Over the next few weeks, we will be reaching out to all MPPs, as well as the new members of Cabinet, to provide information on the importance of stable and effective tax credits in maintaining Ontario’s position as a competitive jurisdiction for film and TV production.

We are also working on updating our study demonstrating the financial impact of the industry and the benefit to the province of investing in the industry. This will be a key tool in our outreach efforts to government.

The screen-based industries and FilmOntario have always enjoyed all-party support in Ontario. We have every reason to expect that this will continue in the new government. Stay tuned for ways you can help continue to get the message out as we enter this transition period.

And as always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me by email or at (416) 642-6704.
