City of Toronto Trip to Los Angeles

In a press event at TriBro Studios this morning, Mayor Tory announced that he will be leading a business mission to Los Angeles on May 8 and 9. FilmOntario is pleased to be among the 30 companies joining this mission.

The purpose of the trip will be to reach out to established companies looking to expand their work in Toronto, as well as meeting with new companies to encourage them to bring business to the City. The trip’s format will be a full day of meetings for all participating delegates, followed by a cocktail reception for L.A. clients and potential new clients.

A Message from the City of Sault Ste. Marie – Open for Filming

An area that inspired a group of seven artists - and a nation to tell its story - could be the inspiration for your next film.

There is a sense of magic associated with filming in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Together, the beauty of our community combined with our rich history and authenticity creates an unmatched spirit of place and energy.

As Canadian Producer Allison Black put it, “Sault Ste. Marie feels like family…they also just roll out the carpet and make everybody feel at home…and that makes a difference in what you see on screen.”

Over the past decade, Sault Ste. Marie has defined itself as a go-to location for film and television production in Northern Ontario. Not only do we offer a warm, unique experience for productions, our diverse locations, experienced local crew base, access to infrastructure and new dedicated film office have set us apart in the industry.

Locations like urban and industry settings, period-accurate locales, and breathtaking vistas - mountains, water, and farmland - have brought producers back time and time again. Our diversity of locations is on top of competitively priced real estate for studio space and offices.

A new post-production facility downtown allows you to stay in Sault Ste. Marie after you are done filming, and take advantage of short commute times, amazing food and culture, and even a weekend get-away to explore Lake Superior’s enchanting Coastal Trail. Sault Ste. Marie values the film industries’ contributions to our local culture and economy, and have taken steps to develop talent through the Digital Film Production accredited program being offered at Sault College and build relationships with the television and film industry that benefit both filmmakers and community members. City staff understand the needs of film production and are eager to help productions ease through permit processes, scout for locations, and liaise with local talent, community partners and services.

Sault Ste. Marie is a special place - and we are open for filming. www.futuressm.com/film E: ssmfilms@cityssm.on.ca P: 705-989-4818
