Section 21 COVID-19 Guidelines
As reported previously, shortly after the outset of COVID-19 in Ontario, the Section 21 Health and Safety Advisory Committee, co-chaired by your Business Agent, Jayson Mosek, began looking at return to work protocols and safe work practices for when work was able to resume in Ontario.In early May, a COVID-19 guideline subcommittee was struck consisting of Jayson Mosek as co-chair, along with CMPA co-chair, Sean Porter, and representatives from each of the other unions/guilds, Ontario-based domestic and service producers, FilmOntario, Ontario Creates, Ministry of Labour Training and Skills Development (MLTSD), the City of Toronto film office and safety representatives from many of the US studios to look at the crafting of safe work protocols. Along with input from your departmental VPs, the subcommittee was able to convene fourteen subcommittee meetings over the course 5 days to get the ball rolling on an initial draft document. Through a truly collaborative effort, the document took shape and was submitted to the MLTSD on June 4, 2020.
Today, we are pleased to advise that the MLTSD has approved the Section 21 Health and Safety Committee’s COVID-19 guidance document.
The Union will be requiring that signatory productions provide a copy of their production specific policies and procedures on COVID-19 before the commencement of work by NABET 700-M UNIFOR Members.
The guidance document will be available on the Film Safety website along with on the Ontario Creates “ready to roll” site as well as Ontario.ca, once the document is translated to French and will also be posted on the NABET 700-M website.
