Pride Month
Pride Month (PDF, 292 KB)
June is celebrated world-wide as Pride Month. This month commemorates the anniversary of the New York Stonewall Riot, which marked a turning point towards achieving equal rights for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning and Two-Spirit (LGBTQ2S+) individuals and communities.
Pride serves as a collective reminder of the importance of safety, visibility, and inclusion of LGBTQ2S+ communities. We must all do our part to create an environment of belonging and inclusion to ensure everyone feels safe and comfortable regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, race, age, religion or any other status.
During Pride month we encourage everyone to take the time to learn more about the LGBTQ2S+ community or get involved to make a difference.
