Sustainable Production Forum: Statement of Collaboration
In honour of Earth Day, the Sustainable Production Forum (SPF) is excited to announce a new Climate Action Working Group, made up of representatives from the Unions, Guilds and Trade associations of the Canadian Film and Television Industry. This National Working Group will focus on empowering crews, from PA's to heads of depts, performers, producers, writers, and directors by supporting our members in the transition to a greener industry. We will collaborate on unified messaging and amplify each other’s efforts.
The science is clear as summarized in the recent IPCC summary report released in March 2023, climate change is already affecting many weather and climate extremes in every region across the globe, including Canada. We are in a decisive time and urgently need to decarbonize Canada’s audiovisual industry. Now is the time for radical collaboration.
We acknowledge all the incredible existing Industry organizations across Canada, who gather to advance sustainability in our field. This Working Group will support and amplify your messages to ensure they reach our members.
