Mental Health Awareness Week

May 1st marks the beginning of Mental Health Awareness Week, a great opportunity to emphasize the importance of caring for our mental health. This is a time for us to come together, speak openly about the challenges we may face, and continue supporting each other.
It is imperative that mental health in the workplace is not overlooked. This issue demands the attention of everyone: employers, workers, unions and the government.
The Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development is committed to promoting work-related mental health and ensuring that workplaces are free from violence and harassment. Working closely with occupational health and safety system partners, including other ministries and stakeholders, the ministry is raising awareness of the importance of these issues and striving to create safe and healthy work environments for all.
The ministry's latest strategic plan, "Prevention Works," emphasizes work-related mental health and addresses workplace violence and harassment. To access the occupational health and safety objectives for the upcoming five-year period, kindly click HERE.
Furthermore, our system partners have made available a range of tools and resources which can assist in preventing work-related psychological injuries and workplace violence and harassment. Click HERE to access those resources.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to keeping Ontario’s workplaces healthy and safe!
