OYA Emerging Filmmakers
OYA Emerging Filmmakers (formally known as Black Youth! Pathway to Industry) is a career training and job placement initiative that provides networking, mentorship and essential skills training opportunities to Black youth (between 18-26) graduates of post-secondary film, television and digital media programs to support their pathway into the sector, based on their personal goals and employment trends. The initiative is committed to an inclusive anti-oppression participatory framework in addressing issues of low employment and marginalization of Black youth in the GTA and has created a curriculum of activities to improve job prospects within the screen-based industry.
As a project partner NABET 700-M UNIFOR provides support through industry standard technical training, employment opportunities, work creation and long-term mentorships.
