CAFTCADEMY 101: The Workroom - Cutting, Tailoring, and Stitching
Date: Monday, June 29th, 2020
Time: 2pm - 3:30pm EDT
Within the Costume Department, the workroom plays a key role - this is where all the costumes will manifest from concept into clothing for each character. While there are many costumes that are bought or rented, those pieces still have to be fitted, tweaked/transformed into the collaborative vision of the Costume Designer, Director and Actor. The workroom can be as small as one person who cuts and sews or as big as a team of four cutters with several sewers/technicians. This module walks you through the intricate world of constructing costumes from the ground up while covering the hands-on roles of cutter, tailor, and stitcher. These roles are responsible for constructing costumes, whether contemporary or period, from scratch to match the costume designers artistic vision and the shows aesthetic. This aspect of the workroom is really how costumes get made, not bought, for certain productions. To register and purchase your ticket CLICK HERE
