Dwight Crane Aerial Lift Safety Course

May 5, 2012
9:00AM - 4:00PM

Location: Dwight Crane, 131 Dowty Road, Ajax
Instructor: Karen Heaton and/or Brian Dwight
Cost (Members): $40
Cost (Permittees): $55

The use of powered elevating work platforms is common in our industry. While there have been few accidents with powered elevating work platforms, when accidents do happen they can involve severe injuries and extensive damage. Only people trained in the safe use of these work platforms are authorized to operate these devices. Therefore, this course has been introduced to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills required to safely operate aerial lifts.

Brought to you by Dwight Crane, this course will cover the following topics:

  • Recognizing safety hazards of operating an aerial lift
  • CSA Standards, Ontario Health & Safety Act requirements for aerial lift operations
  • How to conduct both vehicle and aerial lift daily inspections and determine when maintenance or repair is required
  • Procedures to prevent accidents and injuries
  • Procedures for proper vehicle set-up and work area protection
  • Proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Proper operation of aerial lift from lower pedestal; upper bucket control panels
  • Procedures for emergency operations
  • Review of manufacturer’s operator manual

After successful completion of the written test and practical portion of the course, participants will be issued a wallet card from Dwight Crane.
