This one-day course
focuses on textured hair care, texture definition, and completing a silk
press.
Course Breakdown:
- Part
1: Silk
press class - How to straighten and style textured hair = 2.5hours
- Part
2: Curl
definition class - How to get the perfect texture = 2.5 hours
Learning Objectives:
- Gain product
knowledge to ensure you have the correct product and tools in your kit
so you can be prepared for all hair textures
- Look-and-learn
demonstration of preparing hair in order to create hair looks that are
often requested on-set
- Discuss hair
care and overall best practices when working with textured hair
- Learn how to
identify textures/hair type
- This will be
a collaborative environment for you to ask questions and learn
Techniques Demonstrated on Model:
- Detangling -
how to do this correctly with textured hair
- How to
properly blow out textured hair
- How to do a
silk press on textured hair (going from textured/curly to straight)
- Laying them
edges
Theory Discussed:
- The basics
of working with textured hair and how to approach these textures
- What
questions to ask before you start (brief consultation)
- What is the
best way to straighten textured hair
- Techniques
to avoid breakage or heat damage
- What not to
do when styling textured hair
Product Knowledge:
- Kit
essentials
- Styling
products for textured hair
- Brushes/combs
for textured hair (i.e., boar brush vs paddle brush)
- Essential
hot tools and blow dryer
