Provincial Budget Update
In case you missed, it, we issued an update on the Provincial Budget last Wednesday evening. While we were pleased to see a reference to stable tax credits and a willingness from the government to continue to work on building studio infrastructure, there is still much work to be done on modernizing the tax credits, obtaining a financial commitment on studios, and securing additional support for Canadian content.
We look forward to working with all of our members to promote the importance of the industry’s issues during the upcoming provincial election. Stay tuned!
FairPlay Application
FilmOntario was pleased to make a submission in support of FairPlay Canada’s application to the CRTC seeking to establish a mechanism for disabling on-line access to piracy sites in Canada. This application, if successful, would give content creators an additional tool to ensure that they are able to receive fair compensation for their work.
A copy of the submission may be found here.
City of Toronto Delegation to L.A.
Mayor John Tory will be leading a delegation of film and television industry members to Los Angeles on Thursday, April 19, 2018. FilmOntario members who are already part of the official delegation may add an additional attendee from their organization to the Reception invite list.
