Apprenticeship Program

Those interested in NABET 700-M UNIFOR's Apprenticeship Program can submit their resume to the NABET 700-M UNIFOR office and request to be added to the apprenticeship list for a specific department. Resumes can be emailed to; attention Erika Thoen.

During pre-production, the Union will inquire with productions to see if they are willing to take on an apprentice. All available resumes will be forwarded to the Production Manager and the member interested in taking on an apprentice for consideration. Please keep in mind that the Union does not decide who the production will hire as an apprentice, as this decision lies with the Producer.

As per Appendix F of the Collective Agreement, apprentices are paid the “Apprentice” rate pursuant to Schedule 2. As per Executive Board policy, the placement period is a maximum of 6 weeks but can also be extended with approval. It is important to note that apprentices are limited to 9-hour days, they cannot do overtime and they cannot do work that a NABET 700-M UNIFOR member would normally do. Only after a Key has established their full departmental crew can an apprentice be considered.
